Flying with Billy Bishop Walking Tour

Explore the history of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and discover how the island airport and its surrounding area has connected Toronto to the world and contributed to Toronto’s aviation history in its over 85 years of flight.

This tour was developed and will be led by Shannon Buskermolen. Shannon is an Emerging Historian and former Programs Assistant with Heritage Toronto, who recently completed a graduate certificate program in Museum and Cultural Management at Centennial College. Shannon holds a double MA in International War Studies from University College Dublin and the University of Potsdam, and a BA Honours in Anthropology and History from Trent University. Shannon is a dedicated to sharing her passion for history and culture through public programming.

Parkwood does not allow picnics to be held on the grounds except for a few special ticketed events per year. Here's your chance to picnic on the expansive grounds!

Pack a nice blanket and/or chairs (no tables please) and your favourite Picnic foods and come and explore all of the Parkwood grounds and make some memories!

Grounds will be closed to the general public, only those with tickets will be permitted to this exclusive event.

No BBQ's or alcohol are permitted on the grounds and any found may result in removal of your party from the property.

Registration and check-in is required and tickets are $10 per person, 2 and under are free.

In the event of inclement weather, Parkwood will make a call as to the possible cancellation of the event. If a cancellation occurs you will have the option to move your booking to another exclusive picnic date or a refund.

No pets permitted.

Small Town Pride offers an intimate look at the joys and challenges of being queer in a small town. Filmed in Alberta, Nova Scotia and the Northwest Territories, the film follows LGBTQ2S+ people and allies as they prepare for their local Pride celebrations. Organizing in church basements, classrooms and around kitchen tables, they take on opponents like a conservative town council that won’t fly a rainbow flag and bend some rules to create a safe space for youth to come out.
